Dr Alban de Kerchove d'Exaerde WELBIO Investigator at the Université libre de Bruxelles is the 2018 winner of the triennial prize awarded by the Pierre and Simone Clerdent Foundation.
The Simone et Pierre Clerdent Foundation aims at promoting and supporting medical research in human neurological illnesses. The Foundation awards a triennial 400,000 EUR prize to a project in this field, led by a researcher within a university of the Belgian French-speaking community.
The 2018 prize has been awarded to Dr Alban de Kerchove d'Exaerde for his project : «Genetic Identification of the neural circuits involved in Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity disorder ». Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is a chronic condition that
affects millions of children and often persists into adulthood. Symptoms include difficulty staying focused, lack of inhibitory control and hyperactivity.
Alban de Kerchove d'Exaerde joins Pierre Maquet, Pierre Vanderhaeghen and Laurent Nguyen in the list of Clerdent prize-winners. WELBIO is proud to note that all Clerdent prize-winners so far have been WELBIO investigators !
The 2018 prize of the Simone et Pierre Clerdent Foundation has been awarded to Dr Alban de Kerchove d'Exaerde on 20 September at the Château de Colonster (Liège) par HRH Princess Astrid.
